The Cleveland Cavaliers’ promising 2024-25 NBA season ended with a whimper as they were bounced out of the 2025 NBA Playoffs by the Indiana Pacers in just five games.
The Cavaliers were one of the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference after claiming the No. 1 seed, and looked the part of a title contender as they were one of the few teams in the top-10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency.
However, the postseason is a far different game compared to the regular season and that was on full display in the series against Indiana as they simply outplayed Cleveland on both ends.
The most common refrain to explain the Cavaliers’ poor showing is the health of their roster as Darius Garland and Evan Mobley were far from healthy.
While both stars were able to gut through their injuries, it was clear that they wouldn’t be able to overcome the Pacers.
Despite the roster’s injury issues, analysts like Ryan Tyler didn’t use them as an excuse.
“And I understand health is a big concern and health is a reason but listen. You’re deep into the season, everybody is playing with at least some sort of injury. I can’t keep using that as an excuse,” Tyler said.

There aren’t any players who are 100 percent healthy in the postseason and that’s by design as the regular season can wear on anyone.
Cleveland obviously could have used more time to get healthier, but the best teams are able to overcome those kinds of obstacles.
Now, the Cavaliers have to answer some tough questions this offseason and namely whether or not this group is good enough to win a championship.
