Now that their season has come to an end, the Cleveland Cavaliers have plenty of time to reflect on what went right and wrong.
For his part, Evan Mobley is trying to determine what more he could have done.
Speaking with Cleveland.com, he got very honest about what he demands from himself.
“I’ve just gotta go be more active,” Mobley said of his share of responsibility for his own involvement. “Whether that’s rebounding, whether that’s getting the ball somehow, you’ve just gotta be more active out there on the floor. Can’t go non-existent sometimes.”
No one can say that Mobley didn’t have a great season.
He averaged 18.5 points and 9.3 rebounds during the regular season and earned his first Defensive Player of the Year trophy.
His time in the playoffs wasn’t as productive, but he still turned in 17.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.
Sadly, Mobley didn’t just battle against opponents on the court, he also had to fight against injuries that held him back.
All in all, he saw multiple ways in which he could be more “active” in the next season.
Fans would argue that he never truly went “non-existent,” but they love the idea of Mobley wanting to push himself harder.
This was the season when Mobley reached new heights and finally hit a level that fans had wanted from him for years.
They would love to see him keep it up and not slow down.
The loss of this team is everyone’s responsibility, which means each player needs to figure out how to improve their performance in the next season.
Mobley has the right attitude and will spend the summer attempting to perfect his game even more.
