The Cleveland Cavaliers planned to go all the way to the NBA Finals this season, and they were the best team in the East all year long.
Ultimately, their plans and record didn’t matter because they just got pushed out of the playoffs in the second round by the Indiana Pacers.
But Cavaliers fans shouldn’t lose faith in the squad, according to owner Dan Gilbert.
He sent a heartfelt message to the millions of Cavaliers faithful, saying better things are coming.
“@cavs fans, I know it’s heartbreaking. But the good news is, we have a talented young core that will learn from this and continue to get better. We appreciate your incredible support all season long. It’s not how we wanted it to end, but I promise you we will do everything humanly possible to address what needs to be fixed and end in a much better place next year,” Gilbert wrote on X.

This is the sort of message that owners, coaches, and general managers often give after a team falls short of lofty goals.
Gilbert still has a lot of belief in this team and their current roster.
There is a reason for that because they really were a dominant force during the regular season, which means they obviously have some true talent and promise.
Plus, head coach Kenny Atkinson has been a blessing for the Cavaliers, which should give fans comfort as well.
But just because Gilbert likes the squad he has now doesn’t mean it won’t change in the months ahead.
The Cavaliers might not make major adjustments, but some tweaks could be possible in the weeks and months ahead.
Gilbert and many fans love the team’s core, but they want more from it.
That might require some tough choices over the summer.
