The Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Indiana Pacers again on Friday night, but it’s not clear if Darius Garland will play.
Garland is currently “questionable” for Game 3 against the Pacers, which is a big deal because the Cavs are now down 2-0 in the series and desperately need a win, and they want Garland back.
Speaking with Cleveland.com, head coach Kenny Atkinson talked about how much Garland wants to play, but was honest about his condition.
“[Darius Garland] desperately wants to get on the court,” Atkinson said. “It’s just kind of in these situations I just kind of, I step back. I support him 100%, whichever way it goes. I think he’s probably like I’ve got to get to a certain point where I can compete at a high-intensity playoff level. That type of intensity is tough to simulate. I guess at some point hopefully he will get out there and try it. But obviously couldn’t run or anything.”
Garland is currently nursing a toe injury and hasn’t appeared in any games against Indiana.
He wasn’t the only one who sat out of the last game, as Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter also missed out.
They are questionable for Friday’s game as well, although there is more hope about them appearing.
If the Cavaliers are without Garland, Mobley, and Hunter, their chances of going down 3-0 are much higher, especially since the game will be held in Indiana.
Of course, they might be able to pull out a win, especially if Donovan Mitchell plays like he did the other night.
This isn’t what Cavaliers fans want to hear, but this time of the year is always filled with unfortunate injuries that teams have to accept.
Cavaliers fans are worried about Garland, his toe, and the team – and they have every reason to be.
