The 2024 NBA All-Star Game is in the books and has received heavy criticism from fans.
The primary reason behind the disapproval of this year’s game was the lack of competitive spirit from both teams.
Although the final score stood at 211-186 in favor of the Eastern All-Stars, only a few fans actually enjoyed the game.
After all, there was little to no defense played by either side in order to ensure that players did not pick up an injury and ruin their chances at playing elite basketball for the rest of the season.
While the players cannot be blamed for having this thought process, Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young recently revealed Cleveland Cavaliers superstar Donovan Mitchell’s unique idea to improve the NBA All-Star Game via ClutchPoints on Twitter.
“It was Donovan’s idea… He talked about maybe having a guy, an emcee, like how it is in New York… Maybe that could make it a little more competitive,” Young said.

Young explained Mitchell’s idea to reinvent the NBA All-Star Game and add a street basketball vibe to it.
But Young did mention it’s still hard to convince every player in the game to play competitively as they are trying to avoid picking up any injuries.
At the end of the day, the NBA needs to improve the format of the All-Star Game as fans are quickly losing interest in the competition.
The league can try to incorporate Mitchell’s idea, or they can have a healthy discussion about any other ideas.
It’s always great to see stars like Mitchell weigh in with their opinions on making every aspect of the season enjoyable for the NBA community.
