Fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers were excited to hear that Ricky Rubio had been signed to the team again.
They thought he could be a huge help to the young squad, offering not only some excellent offensive skills but also serious mentorship too.
But, sadly, Rubio hasn’t been able to play for the Cavs this season, as he is still recovering from a knee injury back in December of 2021.

And it doesn’t sound like he will be back anytime soon.
The team announced that Rubio still does not have a timetable for his return.
Typically, a surgery like the one that Rubio had takes about 10 to 12 months to recover from so we should be hearing about him back on the court soon.
But it’s becoming clear that Rubio’s recovery is taking longer than normal.
Rubio Recovering
Recently, Rubio met with team doctors to see how his progress was coming along.
He has also been spotted doing minor shooting exercises on the court before some games, which is definitely an encouraging sign but not enough to get him suited up and in games.
His surgery last year was the second time in his career that he had to undergo reconstruction in that part of his body.
Numerous factors, such as his age, play a part in how long it takes for Rubio to get back in playing shape.
The Cavs are hoping that Rubio is back sooner than later because he really can offer a lot to the surging team.
Even at his age and with his injuries, he can still be an excellent shooter and can certainly impart some wisdom to the young squad.
