The Cleveland Cavaliers have a lot to prove to themselves in the 2022-23 season.
Last season, the team had a very impressive, fun, surprising regular season and looked like one of the best teams in the East.
They were young, powerful, driven, and supremely talented.
But, sadly, they were sidelined by various injuries and the team wasn’t able to stay supreme into the postseason.
So, they will want to change that in the new year.
They want to prove to themselves, and their fans, that they’re the real thing.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have a 53-47 record all-time vs the Toronto Raptors. The two franchises could be in the early stages of developing a new rivalry thanks to Evan Mobley and Scottie Barnes. They also want to verify this to their rivals, notably a certain team that is being named their biggest rival.
The Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors are now considered rivals in the NBA but, right now, the Cavs are the champions.
The Cavs have a 53-47 record all-time against the Raptors.
The two franchises are creating a new rivalry because of their age, their regions, and the fact that two of the best young stars in the league – Evan Mobley and Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes – represent them.
In 2021-22, the Cavs won the season series 3-1 and they’re ready to build upon that record in the 2022-23 season.
A Growing Rivalry
There are rivalries all over the NBA – from the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics to the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies.
The Cavs have mostly stayed on the side, taking on all teams equally but not having an official rival.
But that could be changing with the Raptors, who play basketball a lot like Cleveland and look like them in many ways.
These two teams are youthful, blossoming, and have a loyal fanbase that knows the best days could be right around the corner.
In the new season, these two squads are going to battle out to see who comes out on top.
