There are some people who say that teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers can only win in the modern NBA if they master offense.
Others say wins can only be achieved if the team masters defense.
Well, the Cavaliers have heard both sides of this argument, taken it all into consideration, and made a decision: they’ll just be great at both.

There are only a few teams that rank in the top 10 in both offense and defense this season.
Those teams are the Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
That means that on both ends of the court, the Cavs are dominant, powerful, and able to control the game.
No wonder they are having their best season in years.
Cavs Can Do It
The team with the best offensive rating in the league right now is the Boston Celtics, but they are not in the top ten for defense too.
The Cavaliers rank 10th in offensive rating, just sneaking into the top ten with 113.
But when it comes to defense, they are the second-best team in the NBA, with 106.7, behind only the powerhouse Milwaukee Bucks.
The fact that the Cavs are able to conquer on both sides of the court shows just how seriously the front office has taken the slow, steady restructuring of the team over the last few years.
Through the acquisition of players such as Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and, of course, Donovan Mitchell, the team has become fully fleshed-out and able to tackle any task that comes their way on the court.
The team has not just gotten better in one way – they’ve gotten better in multiple ways and the benefits have been obvious.
