The Cleveland Cavaliers have been holding their own recently, winning five of their last eight games even with a plethora of injuries hurting the roster.
Sam Merrill has been part of this recent run and is getting recognition from many.
Sam Vecenie loves what he sees from Merrill and sang his praises on Twitter.
Remarking that Merrill leads the NBA in three-pointers attempted per 100 possessions, Vecnie said, “Sam Merrill will get up 3s, man. Always has had a super easy, translatable shot off of movement. Quick release, great balance, great touch.”
He added, “I do think he’s a legit NBA player. Can really really shoot it.”

For the season, Merrill has averaged 6.3 points and 1.3 rebounds on 43.2% from the field and 44.7% from the three-point line.
This is his second season with the Cavaliers and they have been calling on him more often, mostly because of the injuries that have plagued the team.
Merrill has been ready to answer the call and has shown how powerful the team’s bench can be.
He is attempting 4.2 three-pointers per game, which is easily his most during his four years in the NBA.
He is sinking 1.9 of those threes, also a career-high.
The Cavaliers have a deeper bench than many people give them credit for and Merrill is key component of that.
They are the eighth seed in the East right now and are trying to stay afloat as multiple players sit out for the foreseeable future.
If they are going to make it to the playoffs, it’ll be because sharpshooters like Merrill continue to play well.
