The Cleveland Cavaliers needed a backup point guard, so Koby Altman got to work and found one of the best there is.
Landing Lonzo Ball could be a huge pickup for this team, assuming he can stay healthy, which is obviously a big ‘if.’
When asked about arriving in Ohio, the former No. 2 pick looked ecstatic for the opportunity to continue to play and, more importantly, play for a contending team (via ESPN Cleveland):
“Just playing. Competing for a ring. I mean, I feel like that should be the goal. I feel like that is the goal. Happy to get over there and get started. Me and everybody getting familiar with everything and take it as far as we can,” Ball said.

Of course, Ball’s injury woes are a major concern, and it will be something to keep a close eye on for as long as he’s in the league.
Then again, he didn’t miss a beat when he was able to return after being sidelined for years.
On paper, Ball is everything the Cavs need.
He’s a big-bodied point guard who can be a factor on the glass.
He’s a physical player and a defensive mismatch who can guard multiple positions.
He can knock down threes and spread the floor, and he’s also an elite playmaker with outstanding court vision.
Given Darius Garland’s injury woes, he can also be asked to step in as a starter, which is a responsibility he’s handled for most of his career.
And with his size and defensive expertise, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see him share the court with Garland and Donovan Mitchell during long stretches as well.
The Cavs didn’t even have to give up much to get him, and this could be one of the most impactful moves of the offseason.
