The NBA season is officially a wrap.
The Cleveland Cavaliers had the best record in the Eastern Conference, trailing only the eventual NBA champions for the best record in the entire league.
They even split the season series with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Now, none of that matters, and everybody will be back to square one to get ready for what’s to come.
Even so, given the current picture and the latest turn of unfortunate events, it seems like oddsmakers believe the Cavaliers have a legitimate chance to go the distance next season.
As shown by Jeff Sherman on X, the Cavs are tied with the New York Knicks for the second-best odds to win the 2025-26 NBA championship (15/2).
Only the Thunder have better odds (9/4).

This is hardly a surprise, all things considered.
The Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks will be without Jayson Tatum and Damian Lillard, respectively.
The Indiana Pacers lost Tyrese Haliburton to an Achilles injury in Game 7, so he will also most likely be out.
That leaves the Knicks as the likely odds-on favorite to lead the East, but they have yet to find a replacement for Tom Thibodeau, so they’re also a bit of a question mark right now.
The Orlando Magic got much better by adding Desmond Bane, and they also pose a major threat.
Whatever the case, it seems like the Cavs are ready to run it back with their same core, and with an injury-depleted East, that might be enough to get the job done.
