This year’s All-Star Game will follow a brand new format and that means it’s the perfect time to get brand new coaches too.
The NBA recently announced that Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson will represent the East by coaching one of the four teams in the All-Star Game, which will be held on Sunday February 16.
On top of that, an assistant coach from his staff will also serve as a head coach for an NBA All-Star team.

This is a massive honor for Atkinson but it’s not a surprising one due to the season he has had so far.
The Cavaliers aren’t the first team that Atkinson has coached.
He previously led the Brooklyn Nets and was an assistant for the New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Golden State Warriors.
But there is no doubt that this first year with the Cavaliers is the best season of his career.
Cleveland is the greatest team in the East and they have a very good shot of ending the year with the league’s best record.
Atkinson will now lead one of the teams coming out of the East in next month’s game, but that won’t take away time from leading the Cavaliers at the same time.
Meanwhile, he is also being talked about as a potential Coach of the Year recipient.
The stars on the team have been getting a lot of attention but Atkinson deserves tons of praise and many accolades too because none of this success would be possible without him.
