The Cleveland Cavaliers need everybody to step up.
They’ve shown what they’re capable of in the regular season, but they must take that same dominance to the playoffs.
Notably, finding another 3-and-D wing might be just what they need to do so.
Fortunately for them, they may have one right in front of their eyes.
Asked about his future with the team, Jaylon Tyson hinted at an expanded role next season.
“I feel like I can do so much on the court. I’m very versatile. I could be a secondary ball-handler, play off-ball, on-ball, point-of-attack defender, that’s the biggest thing I’ve been working on. There’s a lot of things I can and will do for this team. I’m just excited for the opportunities that’s going to be presented to me,” Tyson said, via Hoodi Garland.

The Cavaliers didn’t use their first-round pick from the 2024 NBA Draft much last season, and his playing time dropped even more when they traded for De’Andre Hunter.
Even so, Tyson looked more than ready for the challenge when they put him on the court, and he should have a longer leash in his second season.
The Cavs lost one of their best perimeter defenders when they traded Isaac Okoro to the Chicago Bulls, and with Dean Wade entering the final year of his contract and potentially being a trade candidate, there should be plenty of minutes up for grabs.
Tyson can score from all three levels, and he’s a willing passer who doesn’t force things and usually makes the right decision.
He’s also not the type of player who needs to have the ball in his hands to make an impact.
The Cavs need to find reinforcements from within, given their financial situation, and Tyson might be their strongest bet to have a championship-caliber 3-and-D role player.
