According to several reports, the Cleveland Cavaliers are finally considering breaking up their core.
Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen could be on their way out.
They underperformed in the playoffs for the third year in a row, and they’ve been no-shows in elimination games way too often.
With that in mind, and considering the Los Angeles Lakers’ disappointing end to the season, some rumors stated that there could be a reunion with LeBron James in the works.
Nevertheless, Cavs insider Sam Amico just doesn’t see that happening.
In the latest edition of his “Full Court Cleveland” show, he shut down those rumors and claimed that it wasn’t much more than wishful thinking to those rumors:
“There is no point in that. If we’re talking about LeBron James, there would be no point in that, and, look, that’s not going to happen with the Cavaliers. [The floating trade rumors are] just a lack of awareness, I would think,” Amico said.
Sam is NOT about the LeBron to Cleveland narrative. #LetEmKnow

Truth be told, this doesn’t make sense for either party.
LeBron James is no longer the kind of player who can lead a team to the NBA Finals on his own, not even with just one star teammate.
He’s aging, doesn’t play defense, and while he can still get his numbers, those don’t necessarily translate into winning.
James’ family is based in Los Angeles, and he’s playing with his older son, so there are little to no incentives to head back to Cleveland at this point in his career.
Even if that weren’t the case, the team would be giving up valuable assets for a player who might not be there two years from now.
James is the greatest player in franchise history, but as much as the Cavs need help right now, they don’t need him.
