The Cleveland Cavaliers’ season couldn’t have started any better.
They haven’t looked back after their 15-0 start to the year, and have held on to the top spot in the Eastern Conference throughout the season.
Some worried that the Boston Celtics would catch them, as they have continued to perform at a high level this season, but the Cavaliers’ winning ways have helped them stay ahead in this race.
With that in mind, the Cavaliers have nearly clinched the top spot in the conference, as reporter Danny Cunningham noted on X that the team has a magic number of five to secure their position for the postseason.

This means that, every time they win, they get that much closer to securing this spot, and they are also assisted by the Celtics’ losses.
Both teams are top dogs in the East by a significant margin, so fans are looking forward to seeing their potential matchup in the playoffs, which could happen in the Eastern Conference Finals if they both keep winning.
It will be interesting to see who comes out of the East, as they’ll likely have to face the Oklahoma City Thunder, who many believe is the team to beat across the league due to how well-rounded they are and the star power they possess.
The Cavaliers split the regular season series with the Thunder, so if it does come down to those two teams in the NBA Finals, the series could come down to six or seven games, making for an exciting end to this season.
