Has Evan Mobley hit his ceiling, or can he grow even more next season?
That is the question that many Cleveland Cavaliers fans are asking after such an explosive campaign from the big man in 2024-25.
People see what Mobley is capable of, but they believe that more can be on his horizon – if he wants it.
Writing for Cleveland.com, Chris Fedor talked about Mobley and noted how the fate of the team hinges on his desire to grow as a player.
“I think we have to ask a question about Evan Mobley that’s really, really important,” Fedor wrote. “Is he an alpha? Not every great player, not every supremely talented player is an alpha.”
Mobley is clearly a great star, but does he have more development up his sleeve, and can he continue to grow?
Fedor is asking if Mobley is comfortable and ready to become a franchise cornerstone.
He can defend excellently, which is why he was Defensive Player of the Year in 2024-25.
But can he score more and, most importantly, can he lead his fellow teammates?
Mobley just had his best season yet, but the Cavaliers still fell short of their goals.
Logic suggests that if he keeps getting better, the team’s chances will also improve.
But Fedor noted that some players are never prepared to become “alpha” because they just aren’t cut out for it.
It is now time for Mobley to prove what he can and can’t do and how much more he can grow.
Mobley should be praised for the season he just had and how he improved all of his numbers across the board.
But with that great work comes higher expectations, and now even more eyes will be on Mobley.
