Kyrie Irving recently turned heads with some comments about his departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
According to Irving, the public doesn’t know the full story about why he left Cleveland, but they will someday.
On the Wine and Gold Talk podcast, co-host Ethan Sands spoke about Darius Garland and how he is learning from Irving’s past and the mistakes he made in Cleveland.
“Darius is learning from Kyrie Irving’s mistakes in the past and using them now and reaping the benefits of those mistakes because he’s not making the same ones,” Sands suggested.
Some people feel that Irving left the Cavaliers because he was burnt out by sharing the spotlight with LeBron James.
A year ago, certain fans said the same could be true for Garland: he may not be pleased about splitting minutes with Donovan Mitchell, who has become the team’s leader.
But Sands thinks that Garland is being smart and isn’t jumping ship, even though his position on the team has changed slightly.
There is enough limelight and glory for both Garland and Mitchell, and the team can still thrive with both of them in the lineup.
Garland isn’t going to go down the same path Irving did, and he is going to stay with his team unless true success isn’t possible.
Someday, Irving will tell his full story about the Cavaliers, and fans will be able to judge it then.
For now, they are focused on the current team and the amazing group of players leading it, including Garland.
And it sounds like Garland isn’t looking to jump ship any time soon.
