The Cleveland Cavaliers have been the best team in the Eastern Conference all season long.
As such, it only made sense that one of their best players got the recognition he so clearly deserved.
With that in mind, even Draymond Green had no choice but to tip his hat to Evan Mobley.
Talking to the media, the Golden State Warriors’ controversial star had nothing but praise for the Cavaliers’ young star (via 95.7 The Game):
“I think to win anything in this league is special,” Green said. “Anytime you can be recognized in this league is great. Congratulations to Evan Mobley. Incredible, young player, just the growth that he’s had over his career. That’s what we all believed he’d be coming out of USC. Great to see young guys get their due in this league.”

Mobley ran away with the award, beating Green and Atlanta Hawks’ Dyson Daniels.
He became the odds-on favorite at one point after Victor Wembanyama sustained a season-ending injury.
Green, however, campaigned late in the season to win the award, using his podcast and an appearance on television to state his case.
He’s also a former player and one of the best defensive players of his generation.
Then again, as good a stopper as he is, Mobley has been the most consistent defensive player in the league this season.
His raw numbers might not be as impressive as Daniels’, but his defensive impact on the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference was massive.
Mobley also admitted that winning this award was a big goal of his at the beginning of the season, but now that he’s gotten it, he wants this to be the first of many more to come.
Hopefully, he will place this trophy right next to the Larry O’Brien trophy to cap off the best season of his young and promising NBA career.
