Donovan Mitchell wants to make one thing clear: this Cleveland Cavaliers team is not the one from the past.
He respects everything the Cavaliers have done throughout their history, but he knows that, here and now, his team is different.
Speaking with Taylor Rooks, Mitchell spoke about the comparisons to LeBron James and former Cavaliers teams.
“I’m not Bron. I’m not gonna do it the same way that he did it. What’d he do? Six times in a row? We’re not the LeBron James-Kyrie Irving Cavaliers. We do it differently. We do it with Evan. We do it with myself. We do it with [Darius Garland]. We do it with Max. We do it with [Jarrett Allen]. All the guys on the roster. It’s just different. We wanna do it our own way,” Mitchell said.

That is a strong statement from the Cavaliers’ leading man, and one that fans should listen to.
There are some Cleveland fans disappointed by what they see from Mitchell and his team.
They continually come up short in the playoffs and haven’t won a championship like James and his squad did.
But being compared to previous teams isn’t a good idea, and it’s not fair to anyone.
However, it’s also not that surprising considering how the NBA fan base works.
Mitchell knows the comparisons will continue, and he will try his hardest to just focus on doing good work.
Will he and his team eventually win a championship and silence the critics?
That is the hope, but he knows people will always talk.
