We all know just how special the last game was for Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The star player put up 71 points and broke records for his team and is now sitting alongside some of the best NBA stars of all time.
His game garnered a lot of attention and tons of headlines, with people saying it was the biggest night of his career and possibly a turning point that would propel him into the MVP and All-Star conversation.
Meanwhile, the NBA was apparently paying attention for a different reason.
Andddd just like that we are drug tested this morning 😂😂😂 https://t.co/LvlbcPDucP

Just one day after the huge performance, teammate Robin Lopez made a joke online about how he and Mitchell combined for 72 points.
It was a humorous tweet, totally on brand for Lopez.
Mitchell responded to the tweet with “Andddd just like that we are drug tested this morning”
We aren’t sure if Mitchell was serious or joking but it wouldn’t be the first time that the NBA drug-tested someone following a massive outing on the court.
This isn’t anything new and it’s actually a fairly normal procedure, not just for the NBA but for other sports leagues as well.
But there is no doubt that this was all naturally Mitchell and he wasn’t being assisted by anything other than his skill and drive to win.
Now the question is what happens next.
Wednesday’s contest against the Phoenix Suns could be another statement game for Mitchell.
He probably won’t come close to 71 again but he could continue to dominate and show that he really is one of the best guards in the East.
Mitchell is getting better and better and he is doing it all naturally.
