The Cleveland Cavaliers were easily beaten by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night and it felt like Donovan Mitchell didn’t show up for the game.
He put up only eight points, two rebounds, and two assists during the 134-114 defeat.
This was his second bad game against the Thunder and he spoke about it after the loss.
According to Dylan on X, Mitchell said:
“I put this one on me. As a leader, you gotta set the tone. It’s twice now against this team that I haven’t been there…. I’ll be better for the group. When your leader is not doing it, it trickles down.”

If Mitchell wants to remain the team’s leader, he will definitely need to do more moving forward.
The Thunder obviously have him figured out and they have been able to neutralize him for two games.
Therefore, Mitchell needs to do whatever possible to change up his game and work around the Thunder.
There was a clear lack of leadership throughout the game and it felt like none of the Cavs roster could get their acts together.
Darius Garland did the best with 20 points and nine assists but even that didn’t put a dent in OKC’s score.
Mitchell was limited from everywhere on the court and the Thunder’s Lu Dort wouldn’t go easy on him.
He is having one of his best seasons yet but these last two games against the Thunder aren’t encouraging.
At least Mitchell knows what went wrong, which is the first step to fixing things.
He will now sit down with the rest of his team and coaching staff and attempt to address the issues.
