The Cleveland Cavaliers weren’t expected to dominate the league in the 2023-24 NBA season.
Apart from not being one of the strongest teams in the NBA, they also struggled with multiple injury issues to major players at the beginning of the season.
Despite all the odds stacked against them, the Cavs are currently the second seed in the Eastern Conference.
Prior to their recent defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers, the Cavaliers were undoubtedly the best team in the league over the past few weeks.
All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell believes the players have no one to blame but themselves for the result via Bally Sports Cleveland on Twitter.
“We deserved to lose this game just on the basis of how we started,” Mitchell said.

As noted by Mitchell, the Cavaliers dug their own grave against the 76ers due to a slow start in the game.
The five-time NBA All-Star went as far as saying that the Cavaliers were seemingly waiting for the 76ers to make a mistake rather than trying to win the game relying on their skills.
At the end of the day, the Cavaliers still came pretty close to turning things around as the final score stood at 123-121 in favor of the 76ers.
Although it was a two-point defeat, the Cavaliers’ winning streak has come to an end.
However, they are still one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
As mentioned earlier, they are still the second seed in the East with a phenomenal 35-17 record this season.
