Just like many other teams throughout the NBA, the Cleveland Cavaliers wanted to get Kevin Durant last week.
In the end, they missed out because he went to the Houston Rockets, but the Cavaliers gave it a good shot.
According to Kevin O’Connor, per Hoop Central, the Cavaliers offered Darius Garland as part of a potential trade for Durant.
The Suns didn’t take them up on their offer, but what does this mean for Garland’s future in Cleveland?

The Suns would have been helped by having Garland in the mix, but he clearly wasn’t enough to entice them.
But now, Cleveland fans are curious about him and what’s next, because this tidbit from O’Connor suggests Garland could be leaving soon.
If the Cavaliers were willing to give him up for Durant, that means he could be moved.
Of course, losing Garland for Durant makes more sense than giving him away for just anyone in the league, but there is no guarantee the Cavaliers won’t ship him out.
There were already whispers of Garland leaving the Cavaliers this summer, and this report about a potential Durant trade makes them even louder.
The Cavaliers might be open to saying goodbye to Garland, but they will only do it if the price is right.
He is a franchise player, one of the most important people on the roster, and the Cavaliers will drive a hard bargain.
They didn’t get Durant, but they would try to land an A-level talent and assets with Garland.
Anything short of that would be ridiculed by the fans and could set the team back in a big way.
