Darius Garland and the Cleveland Cavaliers weren’t able to make the Finals – or even the postseason – last season but they still had a year that fans were very excited about.
That is because the team showed an awful lot of promise and potential and if it wasn’t for a few ill-timed injuries, they really could have had their first playoff run in years.
The entire squad was showing up for most of the year but Garland really rose above the rest and put his name on the radar for many fans throughout the league.

Garland was playing inspired, fired-up basketball, especially after the All-Star Game.
This year marked his first appearance in the annual event and the inclusion obviously touched him and made him achieve even more.
Following the All-Star Game, Garland averaged 24.8 points, 10 assists, and 1.6 steals a game.
His stat line was 44/40/88 following the 2022 All-Star Game too, showing just how tuned in this young player was.
So, what will next year bring for Garland?
Garland’s Game
Garland’s average for the season was 21.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 8.6 assists.
That means that he really did take things to another level after the All-Star Game and kept his output high throughout the rest of the season.
But the real test will come in the new season when Garland and his healthy team will attempt to take the Eastern Conference by storm.
There is a lot riding on them now: they got so close last season that if they don’t surpass expectations this year then it’ll be seen as a huge disappointment.
Based on what we have seen, it is obvious that Garland is ready for that challenge and will try his hardest to keep playing like a man on a mission.
