The Cleveland Cavaliers entered the 2024-2025 NBA season knowing they had a chance to be great.
Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland were already a dynamic duo last year, but they’ve taken a step forward and have gotten even better as a unit.
Evan Mobley has also joined in on the fun, putting together one of his best seasons to date.
Garland and Mitchell might have had some issues with the team in the offseason as it relates to their respective contracts, but all seems to be well in Cleveland in that regard.
It’s a good thing that these players worked it all out because Garland just cemented his place in the Cavaliers’ history books.
As Cavs Notes highlighted on X, after his performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night, Garland now has the third-most assists of any Cavaliers player in history.
With his 4th assist tonight, @dariusgarland22 moved into 3rd place on the Cavs’ all-time assists list. https://t.co/eyKekPrOsB

He is known as an unselfish player who isn’t afraid to get his teammates involved, a big reason why the Cavaliers are among the top teams in the league.
Garland hasn’t necessarily been seen as a high-octane player in previous years or gotten much national recognition or screen time, but that has changed a lot over the past few months.
He’s an integral piece of the Cavaliers’ puzzle, and it’s hard to imagine this team without his leadership.
It will be interesting to see how the Cavaliers finish the year, and if they’ll find a way to keep this momentum moving for the foreseeable future.
