Playing in the NBA is a dream for many basketball players around the globe.
Apart from testing their skills against the best players in the world, athletes also get a chance to attain generational wealth by having an excellent NBA career.
A key part of gathering generational wealth is signing lucrative endorsement deals.
One of the most common endorsement deals that almost every All-Star player signs is a good sneaker deal.
The Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland recently signed a shoe deal with New Balance.
But why did Garland choose New Balance over the likes of Nike, Adidas, and more? He explained via Evan Dammarell on Twitter.
“Everybody is wearing KD’s, Kobe’s, so I wanted to do something different,” Garland said.
I asked #Cavs guard Darius Garland about joining New Balance.
He said part of it’s the family-first vibe the company has and is tired of wearing the same as everyone else.

Garland pointed out that most players in the league wear the sneakers of a select few athletes.
But Garland wants to stand out from the crowd, and signing with New Balance provides him with that opportunity.
Well, it’s good to see that Garland has a clear-cut plan about his decision to sign with New Balance.
While it will undoubtedly help Garland stand out from the crowd, it could have an adverse impact on his potential earnings from a shoe deal as well.
After all, as compared to the likes of Nike and Adidas, New Balance doesn’t really have a strong foothold in the sneaker market.
But signing Garland could help the company in achieving that in Cleveland.
After all, Garland is one of the best players on the Cavaliers in the 2023-24 season, as he’s averaging 19.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game for the team.
