Like all good NBA teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers do more for their city than simply win games.
The annual Wine & Gold Gala is a yearly occasion for the team to give back in a huge way.
The event is a chance for people to support programs and nonprofits that devote time and money to the youth of Northeast Ohio.
This year’s gala was a runaway success and featured Donovan Mitchell getting close with fans.
The Cavs Care Twitter account showed Mitchell hugging a young fan, who seemed elated to meet his hero.

According to the Cavaliers, the event, which was held at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, raised one million dollars.
The team said that more than 500 people arrived on the red carpet to raise money and highlight local causes.
A silent and live auction offered attendees a chance to fly to Vegas, win multiple signed Cavaliers jerseys, and even attend a game between the Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets that will be held in Paris.
This is just the second time that the Cavaliers have held the event, but it surely will not be the last.
Mitchell’s appearance shows just how much he values the city of Cleveland, even after just playing that for only a year so far.
Most reports say that he has quickly grown close to the city and the team that he plays with.
In fact, he reportedly invited the rest of the roster out to his residence in Connecticut during the summer in order to build a closer bond and plan the season ahead.
The Wine & Gold Gala is just another way that Mitchell is proving he’s devoted to the team and its success.
