The 2024-25 Cleveland Cavaliers can do something no LeBron James-led team ever did.
They’re sitting on a league-best 8-0 record, including tough wins against playoff-caliber competition.
According to The Cavs Jack on X, Kenny Atkinson’s team is now one win away from tying the best start to a season in franchise history, which took place during the 1976-77 campaign.

A lot has transpired since that moment, both good and bad.
The Cavaliers have looked like a well-oiled machine since Atkinson’s arrival, and they’re not even at full strength.
Despite Max Strus being out with an injury, the team is excelling on both ends of the floor.
They took the same defensive mindset and approach from the J.B. Bickerstaff days but took things up a notch on the offensive end under Atkinson’s tutelage.
The Cavs currently have the second-best scoring offense in the NBA, scoring 122.2 points per game, despite ranking No. 10 in tempo, with 100.6 possessions per game.
They’ve also been great at getting stops, boasting the fourth-best defensive rating in the league with 108.5.
More importantly, this team is spreading the wealth, and it seems like anybody can take over and have a big night.
Even in the moments when Donovan Mitchell struggles with his shot, the ball finds the open man, as Darius Garland and Evan Mobley have been more aggressive on the offensive end.
This team will eventually lose a game, but they’ve looked like a legitimate championship contender so far.
