Everyone is talking about the historic night that Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers just had.
Mitchell, who only joined the team a few months ago, put up a record 71 points in an overtime win against the Chicago Bulls.
Understandably, people are elated about this huge accomplishment, calling it one of the best performances an NBA player has had in years.
It puts him alongside some of the greats of the game and immediately as one of the most important Cavaliers players ever.

Each and every one of Mitchell’s teammates was very supportive of Mitchell but one of them couldn’t help but make a little joke.
Following the game, Robin Lopez celebrated Mitchell in his own special way:
“I’m going to get it out of the way and point out that Donovan Mitchell and Robin Lopez combined for 71 tonight. Hashtag historic game,” Lopez said after the game.
Sure enough, Lopez did rack up one whole point in the game, adding to Mitchell’s massive 71.
He might not have had the same impact that Mitchell did, but Lopez has become an important part of the Cavaliers line-up, because of his personality more than anything else.
Lopez has played for a few teams during his time in the NBA, starting with the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans (then-Hornets) before really coming into his own with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Since the start, Lopez has always been a very fun, playful guy who loves making jokes, getting close with his teammates, and fighting with team mascots too.
This year, Lopez is putting up just 3.1 points and 1.5 rebounds with the Cavaliers.
He isn’t producing the sort of points that he used to but he is still a wonderful personality who the rest of the team loves.
