It’s safe to say that not many people were as bullish on the 2024-25 Cleveland Cavaliers as results have shown.
Even the most optimistic Cavaliers fan had to acknowledge that some Eastern Conference teams, such as the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, or Philadelphia 76ers, were better than them, at least on paper.
We’re 12 games into the season, and no team has been better than Kenny Atkinson’s.
That’s why, as much as he doesn’t want to get too carried away, former shooting guard Austin Carr admitted that he genuinely feels like this team can make it to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Talking on 92.3 The Fan, Carr pointed out how having a more aggressive Evan Mobley has helped this team, praising coaching and training for his development.

For years, analysts and fans have discussed how Mobley’s development – or lack thereof – could make or break the Cavaliers’ project.
It seems like they were right all along.
Mobley was already a solid defensive presence, but having him take a step forward on the offensive end of the floor can certainly take this team to new heights.
Kenny Atkinson deserves a lot of credit for the confidence he’s instilled in his players.
With his free-flowing offense, he took a page from the Golden State Warriors’ book.
Having everybody involved has them asking for the ball, taking shots, and being aggressive from start to finish.
It’s still very early, but what we’ve seen from the new-look Cavaliers has been encouraging.
