The Cleveland Cavaliers had one of their best regular seasons in franchise history.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to get over the hump.
And while there should be no shame in losing to this version of the Indiana Pacers, it was a disappointing turn of events nonetheless.
On the bright side, the team is reportedly finally considering moving on from its current core of players.
Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland might be on their way out, and with multiple big pieces potentially being on the move, team analyst Matt Fontana thinks the Cavs could make some significant transactions this offseason.
In the latest edition of his show, he predicted that the Cavs’ front office will be very active:
“This NBA offseason is going to be nuts. This offseason is going to be one of the craziest ones we’ve ever seen in the NBA, I think that helps the Cavs. Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley are untouchable. Not that they’re trying to trade Jarrett Allen or Darius Garland, but they might listen. That is the right approach to this,” Fontana said.

Shams Charania of ESPN recently stated that this will be one of the craziest offseasons in NBA history, and that’s a lot to say.
We’re talking about a league that just saw Luka Doncic being traded midway through the season, so the bar is quite high.
The Cavs have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who’s reportedly considering leaving the Milwaukee Bucks after another dismal conclusion to the season.
It’s hard to believe they would be able to get him unless they include Evan Mobley in any trade offer, but we’ve seen crazier things happen.
The Phoenix Suns are reportedly targeting two Cavs assistant coaches to be their next head coach, and with Kevin Durant also on the move, maybe they can get him for Garland and Allen.
It’s a long shot, but there will be options.
