The Cleveland Cavaliers have the best record in the league.
Of course, that’s because of a collective effort and Kenny Atkinson’s coaching.
Nevertheless, as much as everybody deserves credit for what they’ve been able to do this season, this will still be Donovan Mitchell’s team until further notice.
As such, the Louisville product hasn’t hesitated to take over when needed.
More than that, he’s been quite efficient and has made the most of every touch and minute he’s gotten this year.
That’s evident in a post shared by Sleeper Hoops on X.
Despite being ranked No. 54 in minutes, the former Utah Jazz combo guard actually ranks No. 11 in points scored this season.

Through his first 51 games of the season, Mitchell has scored 1,221 points.
He’s played 1,596 minutes so far.
We know that Mitchell is capable of putting up 30 points per game on any given night, but this team hasn’t needed him to do so.
He’s currently averaging 23.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 3.6 three-pointers per game.
Of course, those numbers are more than likely to go up in the postseason.
He’s a proven playoff performer who doesn’t hesitate to take matters into his own hands or take big shots when needed.
The Cavaliers have been the most pleasant surprise in the league so far this season, but none of that will matter if they fall short of the goal down the stretch.
Fortunately, they can always rely on Mitchell for timely buckets.
