This season hasn’t looked exactly as the Cleveland Cavaliers planned.
The team is seventh in the West with a 17-13 record, although many fans were hoping for so much more at this point in the year.
Of course, a series of debilitating injuries have set the Cavaliers back and thrown their plans into disarray.
Still, Evan Dammarell said the best words to describe this Cavaliers team are “relentless and selfless” even with all of their problems.
Speaking on Locked On Cavs, Dammarell pointed to the recent win over the Chicago Bulls, when the Cavaliers could have let their depleted roster and a recent Bulls run get the best of them but they stuck to their “next man up” mentality and pulled out a win.
The Cavaliers’ current injury list is long and filled with some of the most important players on the team.
Despite that, the team has been fighting as hard as possible.
Even without Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Donovan Mitchell at times, Cleveland still looks and plays like postseason contenders.
They will need to remain relentless and selfless in the days and weeks ahead.
Their work was already cut out for them when the season started because the Eastern Conference is stacked with tough competition.
But things got even harder for the Cavaliers when multiple injuries kept flaring up.
This is a time for the lesser-known heroes on the roster to step up and show what they are capable of.
On Wednesday night, the Cavaliers will jump back into action after this Christmas break and will face off against the Dallas Mavericks, followed by the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors later in the week.
Because of their relentless and selfless spirit, the Cavaliers have won their last four of five games.
Can they keep it up into the new year?
