The Cleveland Cavaliers have played the majority of the 2023-24 NBA season without some of their key players.
While most of them have been out due to injuries, one key veteran hasn’t even played a single game this season.
Yes, we are talking about Ricky Rubio, who took a leave of absence from the Cavaliers to take care of his mental health.
Although Rubio has been on a break from professional basketball for months now, the 32-year-old recently discussed parting ways with the Cavaliers.
Keeping that in mind, as per Tom Withers on Twitter, the Cavaliers are examining all possibilities to fulfill the Spanish player’s request.
Cavs are examining all possibilities with Ricky Rubio — trade, buyout, release. Told Rubio is doing well. He could return to playing, but it could be in Spain.
Rubio had a big hand in the turnaround here.

As mentioned in the tweet, the Cavaliers are trying to find the perfect way to allow Ricky Rubio to leave the team.
Be it via a trade, buyout, or release, the organization is working relentlessly to find a solution to the problem sooner rather than later.
On a positive note, Ricky Rubio is apparently doing well, and he may return to play professional basketball at some point in the future, but it will most likely be for a team in Spain.
Over the course of his NBA career, Rubio has averaged 10.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game.
But last season, Rubio played just 33 games for the Cavaliers and averaged just 5.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists for the team.
Keeping that in mind, it may not be the worst idea to allow Rubio to leave the team and fill the roster spot with a talented young guy or a veteran player to help come playoff time.
