There are numerous teams throughout the NBA currently battling to acquire Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, however, are not one of them.
Writing for Hoops Wire, Ashish Mathur reported on intel from Sam Amico that made it clear that the Cavaliers are not in the hunt for Durant.
“The Cleveland Cavaliers are not interested in trading for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, a league source told Sam Amico of Hoops Wire,” Mathur wrote. “The Suns are going to trade Durant this offseason, but the Cavaliers ‘are a definite no on Durant,’ the source told Amico.”
This isn’t very surprising because the Cavaliers weren’t included in any rumors about Durant.
But there was always a chance they’d attempt to woo the Suns and sign him this summer.
There have been whispers of the Cavaliers making some big adjustments this summer after another disappointing run in the playoffs.
There is no doubt that Durant would bring a lot to the team, but it sounds like they have no interest in what he can provide.
However, just because they aren’t intrigued by Durant doesn’t mean they won’t pursue someone else.
There is still a good chance that the Cavaliers do something drastic in the offseason.
But there is also a strong possibility that they do nothing at all and run it back with their same crew next season.
Cavaliers fans should stop thinking about Durant and instead keep a close eye on players like Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley.
The rumors about one of them possibly leaving have grown, and there is a lot of speculation about what’s next for them in Cleveland.
