Right now, many Cleveland Cavaliers fans are contemplating what sort of trades the team could commit this summer to make them better and give them a stronger chance of playoff success next year.
Speaking on “Courtside with Cavs,” Spencer Davies talked about a potential trade that could give the Cavaliers what they need, although it’ll cost them.
He mentioned the idea of sending Jarrett Allen to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Bobby Portis and perhaps A.J. Green or Pat Connaughton, along with maybe some “draft capital.”
“Sign-and-trade with Milwaukee, Bobby Portis [and] you look at Jarrett Allen potentially being that other piece going back to Milwaukee, and then one more player—possibly an A.J. Green? Maybe a Pat Connaughton? He also has a player option. I was just thinking a 2-for-1 for Jarrett Allen, maybe some draft capital coming from Milwaukee,” Davies said.
Davies made sure to remind viewers that the Cavaliers moving Allen isn’t set in stone and there is a good chance that it doesn’t happen.
Just the other day, Koby Altman was speaking about his team’s season and gave a special shout-out to Allen.
The front office clearly likes Allen and believes in him, so they might hold onto him for the foreseeable future.
But if they do choose to do business with the Bucks, or any other team, they’ll want a decent haul in return for Allen.
Portis is someone who can rebound and make a lot of noise in the starting lineup.
He is a proven player who would instantly help the Cavaliers.
The others, such as Green and Connaughton, would be extra support that would make this trade even better and give the Cavaliers more depth.
The bottom line is that if the Cavaliers ship away Allen, they want a lot of power to fill the void he would leave.
They aren’t going to commit to an Allen deal unless it’s something very attractive to them.
