The Cleveland Cavaliers are the favorites for their opening round of the NBA playoffs.
They have better odds of winning that series, but they don’t know who they are playing against yet.
Jarrett Allen spoke about this with Cleveland.com and said the lack of preparation is the biggest obstacle the Cavs are currently facing.
“I think just the biggest challenge with that, just looking at the coaches and everything is just the lack of days of preparation,” Allen said. “Some people, like the fourth and fifth seed, they’ve been able to know who they’re going to play for the whole week. You can watch hours and hours of film, days on days, but for us we only get a limited amount of time to prepare for games like this.”
Cleveland’s opponents will be decided on Friday night.
The final Play-In games will be held then, and the Atlanta Hawks will battle the Miami Heat.
Whoever wins that game earns their shot at taking down the Cavaliers.
That’s not much of a reward for the Hawks or Heat, because the Cavaliers have been incredible all season long and will surely be a very tough foe.
The Cavaliers have been locked into the first seed for a while and have been preparing for this moment.
Now they just need to wait a little longer, and they will know who they will battle against.
They have surely been studying tapes of both teams and making plans for either opponent.
Allen admits this approach is frustrating, but he believes in his team and knows they will fight hard no matter who they are playing, just like they have done all season long.
