The Cleveland Cavaliers have won 61 games so far this season.
However, they still haven’t locked up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
And with the Boston Celtics closing in on them, they can’t take their foot off the gas just yet.
With their big win over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night, they got a little closer to clinching that seed.
According to Evan Dammarell, they’re just three wins away from getting home-court advantage through the Eastern Conference Finals, even if they meet the Boston Celtics on that stage.
The #Cavs’ magic number to clinch the No. 1 side right now is three.

Notably, even though they shouldn’t overlook any opponent, not even at this point in the season, they shouldn’t find much trouble doing so.
They still have six games left in the regular season, and most of them will be against teams they can beat.
They have to meet two eliminated teams in the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls, and they will also have two games vs. the Indiana Pacers, one against the Sacramento Kings, and a rematch with the Knicks.
The Cavs have been on a tear all year long, and it will now all be about getting healthy and making sure to ride some positive momentum into the postseason.
They’ve proven that they can hold their ground against all kinds of teams.
And while they’re no longer in control of their destiny to clinch the best record overall, having homecourt advantage through the Eastern Conference playoffs will be crucial in a potential matchup with the defending NBA champions.
