The Cleveland Cavaliers have looked like the best team in the NBA at several points throughout the 2024-2025 NBA season.
They started the season on a 15-game winning streak, having another 16-game streak later on in the year.
Many believe this team has what it takes to go on a deep playoff run for many reasons, as these winning streaks indicate that they can take down anyone who stands in their way, especially if they get some momentum.
Their teamwork has certainly been among their biggest assets, as they are one of the deepest teams in the league, giving their stars necessary rest during games.
Kenny Atkinson, their new coach, has also received a lot of praise for his role in how well the team has played this year.
Players have talked about how passionate he has been all season, which often leads to motivation for this team on the court.
Donovan Mitchell outlined Atkinson’s comments to the team ahead of their latest win, shared in a Cleveland.com article from Chris Fedor.
“He came in, talking about Duke and the Final Four and (expletive), and then he threw the water bottle at the (TV) screen,” Mitchell said. “Just out of nowhere, he flipped. That really got us going. That’s why we appreciate him. He picks his spots and always does it the right way.” .
Atkinson wasn’t even talking about the Cavaliers in this conversation, necessarily, but talked about Duke and the Final Four.
Whatever the topic was, it certainly helped his team wake up and get their heads in the game.
Fans hope Atkinson keeps giving his team these kinds of speeches moving forward, wanting the Cavaliers motivated heading into the postseason.
