The Cleveland Cavaliers are walking on the clouds right now.
They’ve been the best team in the league by a significant margin, and it takes a whole lot to do that.
That’s why, as much as he knows the team’s togetherness, camaraderie, and hard work has paid off, coach Kenny Atkinson also admitted that luck has played a big factor in what has happened so far.
Following their win over the Miami Heat, coach Atkinson raved about how anybody can beat anybody in the league and how they’ve had luck on their side this season (via Daryl Ruiter).

The Cavs are the first team to clinch a playoff spot this season.
As Daryl Ruiter pointed out on X, they’re also the second team to have at least three 12-game winning streaks in a single season, joining the 2006-07 Dallas Mavericks.
Clearly, hiring coach Atkinson was the best move the front office could’ve made.
And while J.B. Bickerstaff has proven that he’s also a good coach, he wasn’t what the team needed at the time.
Sometimes, a team just needs a minor tweak to get the monkey off its back.
It happened when the Golden State Warriors replaced Mark Jackson with Steve Kerr, and it might be the case with Atkinson’s arrival.
The Cavs have 20 games left in the regular season, and they will use them as a testing field to figure out what to do come playoff time.
That’s the absolute best position you can strive to be in at this point in the season.
