The Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2024-2025 season has been one of the most surprising NBA campaigns in recent memory.
The Cavaliers were expected to be solid given what they’ve accomplished in the past, but nobody predicted this team to have the best record in the Eastern Conference.
Cleveland has gotten strong production from several unexpected places, including from Evan Mobley, who is putting a fantastic season together.
He’s getting it done from a points and rebounding perspective, which the Cavaliers knew he was capable of, but Mobley has also been a star on defense.
In fact, he just became the first player in NBA history to win multiple Defensive Player of the Month awards, per StatMuse on X.
The Predicament this season:

Mobley has done it all for the Cavaliers this year, and with Victor Wembanyama out for the season, he has a legitimate chance to win Defensive Player of the Year.
Few players have been as dominant on defense as he has, and considering his efforts in other categories, it’s tough to overlook what he’s capable of moving forward.
The Cavaliers knew they had something special with Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, but they now have a three-headed monster of stars, which doesn’t even include their loaded bench.
Something is brewing in Cleveland, and only time will tell if this team can pull off this level of success in the postseason.
Signs point to that being the case, but there’s a reason why the games are played, as anything can happen.
