The 44-10 Cleveland Cavaliers and their fans can enjoy the NBA’s All-Star Break knowing that they are tied for the best record in the league and have a solid 5.5-game lead for the top seed in the Eastern Conference while watching Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley all suit up on Sunday for the All-Star Game and Garland aims to take home a 3-point contest crown on Saturday.
Now that everyone has a week to reflect, there is a lot to fondly look back on when it comes to this Cavs’ season, but analyst and former player Brad Daugherty shared what he believes is the biggest key to this team so far.
While speaking on The Ken Carman Show on 92.3 The Fan, Daugherty said “We’re the sum of all of our parts, that’s the type of team we are, and it’s not about one guy. In today’s game, everybody talks about, ‘whose team is it?’ That stuff, to me, that’s stupid. I don’t understand that. I don’t care whose team it is, it’s how effective are you.”

Daugherty pointed out how every part of this team plays its role well and if you removed any piece of the puzzle, the team would suffer tremendously.
He specifically pointed out how Garland has to have big games against the Boston Celtics because of how the team attacks him in isolation situations due to his size, which will be key if the two wind up facing each other deep in the postseason.
Most would assume this is Donovan Mitchell’s team, but the success the Cavs are having is largely due to how cohesive everybody has been.
This is not one player’s team.
