The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached the NBA All-Star break with a dominant 44-10 record and a 5.5-game lead for the top seed in the Eastern Conference thanks to having a trio of All-Stars in Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley leading the charge.
After a couple of years of playoff shortcomings, the team is looking to continue improving and make a deep run through April, May, and June even if many pundits don’t believe they are ready, although Hall-of-Famer Kevin Garnett doesn’t feel that way.
In a recent episode of KG Certified, Garnett said that the Cavs won the trade deadline after trading from De’Andre Hunter, calling them a “serious threat” and adding “The Cleveland Cavaliers have entered the conversation. They think they can win it.”
“The Cavs are in the conversation and it is a serious threat. If he (De’Andre Hunter) does what he did in Atlanta into this situation.. Cleveland is back and they think they can win it”

Hunter is having a career year averaging 19 points per game off the bench and should fit right into the Cavs’ foundational group of their three All-Stars and former All-Star Jarrett Allen.
This team has lacked a consistent two-way wing to go along with those four guys, and while players such as Isaac Okoro, Dean Wade, Max Strus, Ty Jerome, and Georges Niang have filtered in and out filling that role, nobody has grabbed it and run with it in a way that Hunter is capable of.
He is also locked in for a few more years, so this could be a strong long-term play for the Cavs.
Garnett praised the Cavaliers for building things the right way by slowly getting better and not rushing to go all-in, but now he believes they can win it all.
It’s nice to hear those things if you’re a Cavs fan, but there is a lot of work left to be done to prove KG right.
