The De’Andre Hunter era has started for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Hunter was surprisingly traded to the Cavs last week before the NBA deadline and everyone was immediately excited to see what he could bring to the team.
Speaking to Spencer Davies and the press, Hunter opened up about the trade process and what it meant to him.
He mentioned how he didn’t think it would occur because the Cavaliers had the best record in the NBA.
Why would they make any changes, let alone one for him?
But their choice to pursue Hunter showed how much they wanted him to help them reach their goals and how much they believed in him.
“It showed they really wanted me,” Hunter said.
“It showed they really wanted me.”

Head coach Kenny Atkinson had tons of praise for Cavaliers president Koby Altman and his aggressive and consistent commitment to getting Hunter.
The entire process was handled well and it resulted in them acquiring one of the most coveted players in the Eastern Conference.
The Cavaliers didn’t have to make any moves at all because of their track record.
Even if they didn’t make a trade, they would still be at the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
But they wanted what Hunter could bring to the court, especially on the defensive end.
On Wednesday night, he got to play in his second game for Cleveland and put up 18 points and five rebounds.
The Cavs have won both games with Hunter and it’s obvious that he’s a great fit for this team.
It is no wonder they wanted him so much.
