The Cleveland Cavaliers came into the 2024-2025 season with the understanding that Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland were going to be their top two players, as they have been for the past few years.
Mitchell and Garland have played well all year, holding to these expectations.
However, Evan Mobley has taken several steps forward this season, showing that he’s more than just a big man in the post.
Mobley has developed into a nightly scoring threat, is a tenacious rebounder, and can even drop dimes to his teammates when called upon.
He was needed against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night with Mitchell out, and he did not disappoint.
As “Evan Mobley Muse” highlighted on X, Mobley finished the game with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists, all while going 7/11 from the field.

Mobley took high-quality shots, and as a result, most of them ended up in the basket.
This game was further proof that the Cavaliers are one of the deepest teams in the NBA.
The Cavaliers seem to have a lot of faith in each other to succeed, which is often the recipe for well-oiled teams in this league.
They might not have entered the year as favorites to make it out of the Eastern Conference, but seeing how well they’ve played this season, that is a strong possibility.
Of course, there’s a lot of season left to be played, and anything can happen in this league, but the Cavaliers have to be encouraged by how they’ve performed thus far, to say the least.
