Cleveland Cavaliers fans tried not to get too carried away when the team won its first five games.
The winning streak went on, and talking heads were still unmoved.
Ten games passed, and some claimed they still hadn’t faced a tough competitor.
Fast forward to today, and the rest of the world is finally taking notice of Kenny Atkinson’s team.
Riding a 13-game winning streak, the 2024-25 Cavaliers only trail four teams for a better start to a season in NBA history (via StatMuse).
Only the 1958 Boston Celtics, 1994 Houston Rockets, 2003 Dallas Mavericks, and 2016 Golden State Warriors have gotten off to a better start to a season than this version of the Cavaliers.

Of course, there’s still plenty of basketball to be played, and with the matchup with the Boston Celtics looming large, some believe they won’t be able to get past the 15-game mark.
Then again, they’ve already proven the doubters wrong 13 times this season, so what’s a couple more games?
They’re 11 games away from the Warriors’ historic 24-0 start to the campaign.
But even if they don’t get to match that, all that matters is that they do what they want to accomplish, which is winning an NBA championship.
This team is doing something that not even any of the LeBron James-era teams did back in the day, and that has to speak volumes about how dominant they’ve been to start the year.
