The Cleveland Cavaliers have definitely been playing really great basketball lately and have surprised even the most diehard fans with their string of wins.
But that doesn’t mean they won’t make some significant moves before the upcoming NBA trade deadline.
On The Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, co-host Jay Crawford made a bold claim: it’s time for the Cavaliers to trade Evan Mobley.
“I have come to the realization that this team can get a haul for Mobley,” Crawford said.
Crawford admitted that Mobley could become a superstar after being traded away but he also said that he has witnessed “better ball movement” and “better team basketball” since Mobley’s departure due to injury.
Crawford added that Mobley may have hit a ceiling and that he perhaps won’t get any better.
“This is who he is,” Crawford claimed.
Mobley was averaging 16 points and 10.5 rebounds per game before he was sidelined because of an injury a few weeks ago.
Although those are strong numbers, some fans are frustrated that they are very similar to what he produced in his first two seasons.
Like Crawford, some people feel they haven’t seen much progress from Mobley, while Jarrett Allen has showcased serious growth.
The Cavaliers have obviously found a lot of success without Mobley and that has some people thinking now is the time to trade him.
He would still secure a big return, or “haul,” as Crawford said.
If the Cavaliers feel they can do well without Mobley, now might be the time to trade him away because of his high trade value and what the team could get in exchange for him.
But will the Cavaliers make a move with Mobley or just sit still and wait for his return?
