The Cleveland Cavaliers did not make any huge moves during the 2023 offseason.
But they did acquire Max Struss in a three-team sign-and-trade deal involving the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs.
Struss agreed to a four-year, $63 million contract with the Cavaliers in exchange for his services.
For an undrafted player, Struss has improved his game a lot, and his time with the Miami Heat certainly deserves credit for his drastic improvement.
Speaking of which, Struss recently praised his former teammate Duncan Robinson for being one of the best shooters ever and taking him under the wing on the Heat via Serena Winters on Twitter.
“One of the best shooters in the world, if not the best shooter in the world, one of the best I’ve ever seen,” Strus said.

Duncan Robinson had a similar journey to the NBA as he was an undrafted player as well.
However, thanks to Robinson’s incredible shooting prowess, Robinson became a key member of the Heat.
In fact, he signed a five-year, $90 million deal with the Heat ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season, which was the largest contract ever by an undrafted player at the time.
Robinson clearly became a good mentor for Strus, as the former Heat player is shooting well in his first year with the Cavaliers.
To be precise, Struss is shooting 44.2% from the field and 38.5% from the field this season.
He is also averaging a career-high 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game for the Cavaliers.
Struss’ numbers are one of the reasons behind the Cavaliers’ somewhat stellar 12-9 start to the 2023-24 NBA season.
Sure, the Cavs are still the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference right now, but they are only 1.5 games behind the fourth seed in the conference.
